About Louth Riverhead Silver Band

A Potted History

Louth Riverhead Silver Band was formed in 1935 and has been fully involved in providing musical entertainment to audiences in the Louth area ever since. The band has an extensive library of music, including brass band classics, pop favourites, jazz and swing favourites, and over 800 hymn tunes!
 
 

Rehearsals

The band rehearses every Thursday evening between 7.30-9pm at Louth Methodist Church on Nichol Hill ((see map for directions). The band has been led for many years by Musical Director Gloria Bannister. New players, old or young, experienced or not, are always welcome. Please contact Gloria on 01507 607513 if you are interested in joining, or just pop along to a rehearsal; a warm welcome is guaranteed. Engagements

The band regularly performs at church services in the local area. The band accompany Evensong at Louth Methodist Church on the last Sunday of the month (see here for more information). The band also partake in services at Binbrook, Burgh on Bain, Conisholme, Saltfleetby and Sutton on Sea. Christmas is a popular time for every brass band and Louth Riverhead Silver Band are always busy, sometimes with two engagements a day in the run up to Christmas! A particular highlight for the band is always entertaining Christmas shoppers outside the Co-op supermarket in Louth. The band also appeared in the stage production of Brassed Off at Louth Playgoers Theatre.
